Nomenclature rules are certainly cumbersome and we'll only attemp to name relatively simple molecules. Look at the examples below for representative instances of anhydrides.

Anhydrides are condensation products of two carboxylic acids (acid + acid = anhydride + water).

They are named like the carboxylic acids but replacing acid by anhydride.
